The Nightingale

But he was very ill and he knew that he was dying. Now he was thinking about the good and bed things that  he made in his life as well. He cried out, “ Sing, my little nightingale, please sing, please sing just for me. “

But the nightingale didn’t  sing. There was no one there who could help the nightingale sing.

“ I’ve given you a lot of presents, gold and jewellery  sing, please, sing. “

But the nightingale was not alive, so it could not hear what  the King said. And everything inside it was too old to work any longer.

“ I’m dying. “ thought the King. At that moment a very good song came through the window. It was the little nightingale  which lived  in the forest. The bird felt that the King was ill and came to his window to sing. As the nightingale song, the King began to feel himself better. He knew that he would not die now.

The little nightingale sang and sang. It sang many different songs. As the little bird sang, happiness, around  came in through the window.

“ Thank  you, very much.” said the King. “ I know you’ve come here to save me. I won’t die now, because I have heard you singing again. Now ,please  want  whatever you want ! I want yo give you something.”

“ You’ve given me something very beautiful.” said the bird. “When I sang to you for the first time, I saw you cry. I shall always remember that. But sleep now, I’ll sing you to sleep and have a rest.”

And it sang. This song made the King sleep. When he woke up, he saw the sun in the sky. But he could not find anybody in the palace. Everybody was  out. They all thought  that  the King was dead. But the little nightingale still sat and sang.

“ Please do not leave me again.” said  the King. “Please stay here. You can sing me whenever you wish. I don’t   need the other bird. I can throw it away.”

“Oh, don’t do that! There is no need.” said the nightingale. “ It has done what  it  could. It was not  made to sing like me. But I can’t stay in your palace, I can’t live long inside a place. But I’ll come when I like. I’ll sit in this tree near your window and  I’ll sing  to make you happy.”

Then the nightingale flew away

The servants came to look at their dead king. But he was not dead! As the King saw them, he said. “ Good morning!”

This was a new good morning to the rest of his life.

Nightingale = a small brown bird that sings very beautifully
Silver = a valuable grey-white metal that is used for making jewellery
Bell = an object that makes a ringing sound
To blow = to move ( used about wind,air etc…)
Servant = a person who is paid to work in somebody’s house, doing work such as cooking, cleaning etc..
Cow = a large female animal that is kept on farms to produce milk
Frog = a small animal with smooth skin and long legs that are used for jumping
Jewel = a valuable stone or a necklace, ring
To get rid of = to be free of someone/something or to remove somebody/something
