Verbs – Week 1

                                            VERBS

To surpass > to do sth. better than sb./sth. else or better than expected

To affect > to influence or cause sb./sth. to change in a particular way

To abandon > to leave sb./sth. that you are responsible for, usually permanently

To absorb > to take in and hold sth. (a liquid, heat, etc…)

To abuse > to use sth. in the wrong way, eg dishonestly

To accept > to take sth. willingly that sb. offers you 

To accompany > to go with sb. to a place;  to give or send sth. together with sth. else, in addition to it

To accuse > to say that sb. has done wrong or broken the law

To achieve > to gain sth., usually by effort or skill

To  acquire > to get or obtain sth.
